With a fresh ambience, nice trendy music and an excellent service, Alma Verde has become one of my favorite places to lunch in Tijuana. I love the way their furniture makes me feel like I’m in the backyard of my house (even if I don’t even have a backyard), chilling with my friends while eating great food. Another great feature about this restaurant, is their little organic/natural market, where you can find dips, sauces, natural beauty products and desserts.

Their menu is pretty basic and easy to understand, but their recipes are extremely unique. I bet the name makes you instantly think about greenies and saldas, but you will be surprised to know that they keep the protein level really rich and the healthy choices do not compromise the flavors at all. My favorite dressing of all time is their ‘Poblano sauce’, and I can’t wait for the day they start selling it by itself. Also, I’ve seen they have a juice bar and breakfast, but it’s pretty away from my house so I haven’t been there that early.

Alma Verde was born less than a year ago from the idea of Alma Pérez and Leonel Valencia. Alma and the Chef Carlos Villareal worked together to create the amazing menu and they wanted to create a place where to foment and educate the new generations about eating habits, retaking natural elements and reducing processed food. The main idea is to focus on turning everyday dishes to its natural form to prove that healthy eating and good taste don’t fight each other.

Alma Verde is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m and you can find it at: Calle Brasil 8930-A, Colonia Francisco I. Madero.

My second favorite: ‘La Texana’ with meat, beacon, dill, and the amazing Poblano sauce I love.
