Red for Christmas, groundbreaking

As cheese as it can be

For me, (and according to my years in university) red is one of the most powerful colors, it can communicate love, passion and fierceness. It goes well with most skin tones and it’s the classic color of every december. It’s a color that I don’t wear too often but I love the boost it gives me, I feel sexy and unstoppable when wearing red. It reminds me a lot of my country, my flag and believe it or not, it reminds me to a lot of foods we have in Mexico. Side note: I can get a little nostalgic too if I wear it.

And as much as I’d love to be in Mexico with my family, this is my reality now and I have to embrace it as it is. Who would have thought I would be wearing a mini dress for Christmas? I’m so used to the northern hemisphere version of the holidays, it can get really hard to enjoy, get in the mood and feel the spirit. Lucky for me, I have a partner to share them with and each year has become a new adventure, a new memory were we always manage to create our own kind of holidays.

Para mí, (y según mis años en la universidad) el rojo es uno de los colores más poderosos, puede comunicar amor, pasión y fuerza. Va bien con la mayoría de los tonos de piel y es el color clásico de cada diciembre. Es un color que no uso muy seguido pero me encanta el impulso que me da, me siento sexy e imparable cuando lo uso. Me recuerda mucho a mi país, a mi bandera y creanlo o no, me recuerda a muchos platillos que tenemos en México. Nota: también me pongo un poco nostálgica cuando lo uso.

Y por mucho que me gustaría estar en México con mi familia, esta es mi realidad ahora y tengo que aceptarla tal como es. ¿Quién hubiera pensado que usaría un mini vestido para Navidad? Estoy tan acostumbrada a la versión del hemisferio norte de las fiestas decembrina que puede llegar a ser muy difícil disfrutar, estar de buen humor y sentir el espíritu. Para mi suerte, tengo un compañero con quien compartirlas y cada año se ha convertido en una nueva aventura, en un nuevo recuerdo donde siempre nos las arreglamos para crear nuestra propia versión de las fiestas.
