Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Chile 2015

Santiago ya suena dentro del listado de las ciudades creativas; los bellos paisajes y el diseño de vanguardia han logrado atraer la atención de la prensa internacional y del mundialmente aclamado Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.divisionIf you follow me on social networks you already know that I was pleased to be invited to the first edition of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Chile. The capital of this beautiful country has been becoming one of the top destinations in Latin America. Santiago is now on the list of the creative cities; the beautiful landscapes and cutting-edge design have attracted the attention of the international press and the internationally acclaimed Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
So the must-attend event was presented last week in CentroParque, where 12 designers among Chilean and international brands guests gathered through Grupo Encina, Caza Moda and many more.[/ezcol_1half_end]

They explained that they want to do this event once a year, which I think is perfect for the public to adapt to having a local view and also for the international fashion to become present and consumption trends in the country to become larger. In this first edition 7 local designers (Zurita, Trial, Pas Demon, Lupe Gajardo, Genny by Lia Fernandez, Kika Neumann and Sisa) and 5 from abroad (Perry Ellis, Hugo Boss, Banana Republic, Paco Rabanne and Versace Colection) occurred.

I was so excited to see the proposals, because compared with SFW the proposal in both design and quality of materials was different, and I’m not saying that the other had poor quality, but here you could see the experience, the work on the brand and the money invested. In my opinion, these fashion houses are more luxurious and focused on a different social-economic sector, something we all want to dress to go to important meetings or for a trip to Greece.[/ezcol_1half_end]mercedes-benz-fashion-week-2015-chile-santiago-moda-diseño-chileno

// So without further ado, here’s a bit of what I thought of each national collection, and my favorite outfits.

The color palette was very natural, colors that reminded me of the beach with beautiful sunsets. The oversize pieces were my favorites, also loved the shoes and geometry in pieces. Although, for a Spring-Summer collection, I think the fabrics could be very warm, though they seemed light and with a lot of movement.[/ezcol_1half_end]

Además me hicieron rectificar que las alpargatas están de vuelta.[/ezcol_1half][ezcol_1half_end]A very elegant and comfortable at the same time collection; neutrals were the key to achieve that ‘street style chic’ vibe that’s so on trend, a minimal look with subtle details between cuts and transparencies. Create interesting looks in neutral tones can be difficult, but the see-through at the end of the skirts and layers of lightweight fabric were enough for me to fall in love with Pas Denom, and also with oversize trend thet is and will always be one of my favorites. Plus I did rectify that espadrilles are back.[/ezcol_1half_end]

A lot of sensuality and strength emanated from this collection, which to me seemed as redesigns of outfits worn by women in 1910-20. A female rebellion with great force, details such as the suspenders and typical hats of the beginning of the century were shown. Familiar to the Mexican Revolution, but with the sobriety that characterizes Chile. The color palette was pale, neutral colors with lots of texture and glamorous touches. Definitely one of my favorites, I loved that beige trousers with cutouts, and in general it was a great proposal that connected me instantly with the country and it’s history.[/ezcol_1half_end]

MMM, yes! An extremely feminine collection, full of shine and silhouettes that accentuate the female figure. Many A line skirts and blazers accompanied by billowing maxis with elegant lapels. I loved the color palette, textures, bags and shoes, each look looked flawless. I’m dying to have one of those thin metal belts, I find them very elegant and perfect to accent any look.[/ezcol_1half_end]

I’m a sucker when it comes to color, I couldn’t help but get carried away by the flow of silk and romanticism of lace and obviously the beautiful mix of colors. I totally fell in love with the deep purple. A sophisticated and contemporary collection, with simple lines, rich colors and flat shoes, which only makes me want more and more one of those dresses. The mix between cleavage and long skirts plus lace camisoles peeking through the neckline seemed beautiful, I can’t wait to use this idea next summer.[/ezcol_1half_end]

collage

[ezcol_1half]Camiseta, botones y colores crudos. Again flat shoes with details and very cool textures. SISA presented a collection with luxury presented in the fabric, reinventing a male clothing item and playing with this trend, turning it into something more elegant, from gowns (of which I am a big fan) to croptops, the shirt was the theme of the collection. I loved the transparencies and layers of light fabric and the details in rope with which long and refined silhouettes were achieved.[/ezcol_1half_end]

It was extremely gratifying to know the very talented Chilean proposal and see small features of its cultural heritage on the runway, translated in fabrics, styling and accessories. From what I barely know and have lived from Chile, it have always struck me as a country with a lot of elegance and simplicity that was completely transfered to the catwalks. Women Power was certainly lived and we could see a luxury distinction, a luxury that is not showy or flashy, but made of quality and with a lot of heart.
